My name is Ryan Hogg and I am 10 years old.
I started Taekwondo with Mr Rigg in January 2009 at Beaconside School Penrith.
I first found out about Taekwondo after Mr Rigg and some of his students did a demonstration during morning assembly at Beaconside School which my older sister was watching. She brought home a leaflet about Taekwondo and gave it to me and I then found out that one of my sister's friends and a friend of mine in my class were students at Taekwondo, so asked them about what happened during a lesson. They told me lots about it and I thought it sounded very good so decided I would like to try it to meet new friends and try martial arts.
I am now a green belt and have competed in Sparring, Patterns and Special technique at three competitions, 2 in Penrith and 1 at Newcastle, in which I gained 3 silver medals, 1 bronze medal and 3 participation medals.
My favourite part of Taekwondo is Sparring as I like trying to beat the higher grade students.
I am more confident and have more control since starting Taekwondo and have made lots of new friends, older and younger than me and been to some new places.
