Next Important Events:

Squad Training

We are planning on sending a TAE team to the upcoming World Championships in Brighton in October. Over the coming months we will be putting on extra squad training to look at potential team members. All squad sessions will last for 3 hours and will be taught by 2 senior TAE instructors, who will split the groups into senior and junior team members. We may also invite prominent TKD instructors from further afield to teach at these sessions. Entry to squad training is by instructor invitation only. Next squad training – 26/2 and 15/4.

Black and Red Belt Training

Attending these sessions is part of a red and black belts ongoing development and pre-requisite for future black belt gradings. Each session lasts 2 hours and is taught by a senior TAE instructor. Next training sessions – 4/3 and 29/4.

Technical Seminar and Black Belt Grading

Technical seminar open to blue belts and above on 24/3 and black belt grading on 25/3.

International Instructors Course

Black belts and red belts have the fantastic opportunity to train with the ITF technical team, consisting of no less than three 9th dan grandmasters. Livingston, Scotland on 11-13th of May.

Penrith TKD School Gradings

Next dates – 3/3, 2/6, 1/9 and 15/12.

Welcome to 2012 and Penrith TaeKwon-Do’s 10th Anniversary!

  • by Ian Rigg, January 1st, 2012

It’s very difficult to begin thinking about writing a summary of last year because there was so much going on, therefore, I’ll keep it brief:

Again our school continues to grow and thrive and this year we celebrate our 10th anniversary in Penrith! The majority of the time throughout the year all our classes are full and this year will likely be the same, however, from time to time groups graduate from one class to the next or a student may leave. So if you are checking over our site in the hope that you can join our school, then it is best to contact us by telephone or email and we’ll let you know if there is a space free or coming up. If not you can add your name to the waiting list to reserve a space.

2011 was our busiest to date, with the many seminars, competitions, gradings and other events that the students and instructors attended. Highlights:

Attending the 1st ever International Instructors Convention in Spain in September, where Mr. Rigg and Mr. Stronach trained for 5 days with the Grandmasters and other instructors from around the world and where, amongst other things, they were introduced to the new TKD kids programme and the new teachings on the “Do,” which will be implemented in our school this January.

Training with Master Jedut and Mr. Suska from Poland. Always inspiring and true practioners of the art both in their humility, determination and ability.

Training with Miss. Cross, many times World and European Champion. Fantastic!

Success at many competitions, including winning the best overall school trophy at the TAE Team Championships in July. Updated results of competitor participation and awards has now been updated.

Student of the year awards go to: Louise Willis and Adam Hill in the adults and teens class, Aaron Ryder in juniors, Alex Harrison in LN 2 and Harry Holiday in LN1. Competitor of the year awards go to Ben Leadbetter in the under 13′s and Amy Hullock in the over 13′s.

Alan Wynmclean grading to 2nd degree.

Many, many students grading to their next belt with success.

Competitor League Table

  • by Ian Rigg, February 2nd, 2011

Because we have a lot of keen competitors in our school; we’ve put together a table to help you keep track of your progress throughout the year.  This will also make choosing some of our end of year awards, such as best overall competitor, an easier task, as we can just refer to this table.  To take a look at the end of year results here:  Competition Results.
